What is Sick Building Syndrome?

Sick Building Syndrome is sometimes considered as Modern Feng Shui. Whilst the practice of traditional Feng Shui accounts for the impact of time on a building or location, it does not take into account technological advancements in the developing world.

As a Feng Shui consultant, I am focussed on ensuring that my clients live and work in an environment that is conducive to their health. For that reason, I also assess a building for hazards such as chemicals, air particulates, electromagnetic fields and water pollution.

Unfortunately loose regulation means that we are constantly exposed to an array of hazards that can have a negative impact on our health. Chemicals found in our cleaning products, personal care products, building materials, cookware, clothing and home furnishings can affect our skin, respiratory and nervous systems, can have an impact on unborn foetuses or in some circumstances can be carcinogenic.

Likewise, air particulates can irritate the skin and eyes, can affect the respiratory and nervous systems and can be carcinogenic.

Electromagnetic fields (EMF’s) are produced by any item that is electrically charged. According to numerous experts and their studies we cannot confidently assume that the impact of electrical fields on our health is safe.

Most of our water is contaminated with micro-organisms (bacteria, viruses, protozoa and parasites), disinfectants that produce carcinogenic by products and toxic organic and inorganic contaminants.

As part of a Feng Shui consultation, Naomi will research a number of potentially dangerous products in your home, outline the potential side effects and suggest safer alternatives. Upon request, Naomi is also available for a detailed Sick Building Syndrome report which will research the side affects of all of the hazardous cleaning and personal care goods in your home or business.
